Frequently Asked Questions

What is Property Value?

Property Value is a subscription service that provides access to property data and analytics. It is a product owned by RP Data Pty Ltd trading as CoreLogic Asia Pacific, which is the largest property analytics company in the world.

Where do you source your data from?

We gather data from many and varied sources, including the Valuers General in each state and Territory, real estate agents and various publications.

What does the term “median price” mean?

Median price refers to the middle price when all prices all sorted from lowest to highest. In the real estate industry, the median price is used because it lessens the impact of uncharacteristically high or low prices.

Why isn’t a sale that occurred one or two months ago accessible in Property Value?

Each state Valuers General (from whom we source sale transaction records) take some time to process and release sales data. The typical time frame for most states is 3 months.

Why can’t I find information for a particular property, street or suburb?

Whilst CoreLogic Asia Pacific has the most comprehensive Australian property data available, unfortunately this doesn't always mean we have access to all of it. Additionally, if a property hasn’t transacted in the last 30-40 years or a suburb has low sales volumes we may not be able to provide any relevant information.

What type of property records are available on propertyvalue.com.au?

propertyvalue.com.au is a dedicated residential property portal focusing on properties that are classified as Houses and Units. We do not display details on Land, Farming or Commercial property records. If you are interested in Commercial property you can find more detail here: www.corelogic.com.au/products/cityscope

How secure is your payment service?

All credit card transactions are serviced over a secure network which means you can be confident that your details are secure and will not be accessed during transmission.

I dont agree with your estimated value of my home

An estimated value is not intended to be an official appraisal of your home's value. We recommend using it as a starting point to determine a home's value combined with other information on the site like the property's last sale price, comparable properties for sale and recently sold and other market statistics. We also recommend you seek professional advice before selling or buying a property. We would however welcome any feedback you have so that we can continue to improve our estimates.
